Special Weather Statement issued May 29 at 2:02PM EDT by NWS Mount Holly NJ Some showers and thunderstorms will move across the area through this evening. Some of the heavier showers or thunderstorms will be capable of producing locally gusty winds to around 40 mph and small hail. Local downpours can also occur resulting in some brief minor flooding. Any heavier showers and thunderstorms are expected to weaken or move offshore later this evening.

Chesapeake Bay from North Beach to Drum Point MD... Choptank River to Cambridge MD and the Little Choptank River... Patuxent River to Broomes Island MD... At 423 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms capable of producing waterspouts were located along a line extending from near Miles River to James Island to White Point Beach, moving east at 30 knots. HAZARD...Waterspouts, wind gusts in excess of 48 knots, and small hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Boaters could easily be thrown overboard by suddenly higher wind and waves capsizing their vessel. Boats could suffer significant damage in high winds. Waterspouts can easily overturn boats and create locally hazardous seas. severe thunderstorms will be near... Solomons Island, Taylors Island, James Island, Town Creek, Choptank River, and Drum Point around 430 PM EDT. Other locations impacted by severe thunderstorms include Drum Point. Move to safe harbor immediately as gusty winds and high waves are expected.
